45-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Bicycle vs Car Crash near Encinitas Boulevard
ENCINITAS, CA (January 22, 2025) – Early Wednesday evening, one man was critically injured in a bicycle collision on Cerro Street.
Authorities responded to the scene around 6:00 p.m., near Encinitas Boulevard on New Year’s Day.
Based on the initial investigation, the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling on Encinitas Boulevard and struck a bicyclist just east of Cerro Street.
Responding paramedics transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police only identified the victim as a 45-year-old man.
Meanwhile, the 79-year-old woman driving the Elantra remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Following preliminary duties, intoxication is not a suspected as a potential factor in the collision. At this time, Encinitas Officials continue to investigate the Cerro Street bicycle crash.
