87-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Allesandro Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 22, 2025) – Monday evening, Lai Har Chu was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Berkeley Avenue.
Police received reports around 6:50 p.m., at the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Allesandro Street.
Investigators say the driver of a dark-colored Ford Transit van struck a pedestrian while heading south on Allesandro. The driver then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
Responding paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the female pedestrian dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased woman as 87-year-old Chu, of Monterey Park.
At this time, the LAPD is offering a $50,000 reward to anyone who can lead the authorities to the arrest of the driver.
