One Driver Pronounced Dead after Rear-End Crash near Cooper Street

ARLINGTON, TX (January 22, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, one driver was killed in a fiery rear-end semi-truck accident on Interstate 20.

Arlington Police Officers responded to the scene around 2:00 a.m., near South Cooper Street on January 4th.

Reports indicate that the driver of a 2024 Hyundai Elantra was traveling at high rates of speed and rear-ended an 18-wheeler truck.

Upon impact, the Hyundai became engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the Hyundai driver dead at the scene. However, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Furthermore, the driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries.

Following preliminary duties, alcohol was ruled out as a potential factor in the crash, and further investigation is still ongoing.
