Two Male Drivers Pronounced Dead after Two-Car Collision near Highway 198
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 22, 2025) – Sunday evening, a head-on crash on Highway 33 claimed the lives of two male drivers.
Dispatchers received calls around 8:40 p.m., just south of Highway 198.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a northbound Lexus sedan was traveling on the southbound lanes at a high rate of speed.
The Lexus then collided head-on with an oncoming Honda sedan, ejecting the driver of the Honda onto the roadway.
Meanwhile, the Lexus started to catch on fire and trapped the driver inside.
Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced both male drivers dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
Moreover, authorities reported no other injuries from the collision.
It was unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Witnesses of the fatal Highway 33 head-on crash are asked to contact local police officers as soon as possible.
