FRESNO, CA (January 21, 2025) – Friday morning, a DUI red-light collision on Belmont Avenue took the lives of two people.

Police officers responded to the scene around 7:18 p.m., near Palm Avenue just east of Stafford Avenue.

Authorities say the driver of a black truck failed to stop at a red-light while traveling westbound on Belmont. The black truck sped through the intersection and collided with a northbound gold truck on Palm Avenue.

The impact of the crash caused the gold truck to flip over before coming to a stop at a nearby gas station.

Responding emergency personnel declared the driver and the passenger of the gold truck deceased. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while the other succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the black truck was taken into custody for suspected DUI and several other charges.
