40-Year-Old Oxnard Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Car Collision near Carmen Drive

CAMARILLO, CA (January 20, 2025) – Early Tuesday morning, Jose Luis Ramirez Jr. was killed in a 2-car accident on Highway 101.

Dispatchers received calls around 1:00 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway just north of Carmen Drive.

Investigators say the driver of a northbound black 2007 Lexus IS 250 made an unsafe turning movement and hit a concrete wall.

The driver of a northbound gray 2010 Ford Mustang then hit the Lexus after it rolled into the traffic lanes. The impact of the second collision caused the Mustang to hit a guardrail located in the center divider.

Paramedics rushed the Lexus driver to Ventura County Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Officers later identified the deceased driver as 40-year-old Ramirez Jr., of Oxnard.

Following the crash, police said the driver of the Mustang left the scene on foot.

California Highway Patrol asks those who witnessed the Highway 101 crash to contact the CHP’s Ventura office at 805-662-2640.
