Three Pronounced Dead after Police Chase Crash near Hazelton Avenue

STOCKTON, CA (January 20, 2025) – Early Sunday, Alejo Elias Jr., Darren Hickerson, and Anissa Lawson were killed in a police chase collision.

The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m., at the intersection of Hazelton Avenue and Airport Way on January 5th.

Police officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle, driven by 28-year-old Elias Jr. However, the suspect failed to cooperate and led authorities on a chase.

Shortly after, Elias Jr. crashed into a vehicle occupied by 61-year-old Hickerson and 52-year-old Lawson. Police added that one of the involved vehicles overturned.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced all three occupants dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Further investigation is handled by the Stockton Police Department.
