9-Year-Old Girl Dead, 36-Year-Old Woman Arrested after Two-Car Collision near Riverside Avenue

ROSEVILLE, CA (January 16, 2025) – Saturday morning, police arrested Ashley Baxter after a DUI crash on Interstate 80 that killed a juvenile.

Dispatchers received calls around 5:20 a.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway just east of Riverside Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Hyundai Elantra lost control and spun out before coming to a stop in the far left lane.

The woman driving the Elantra then exited her car and walked onto the south shoulder.

Subsequently, a red Honda CR-V failed to avoid the disabled Elantra, resulting in a collision. Reports indicated that two juveniles inside the CR-V, including a 9-year-old girl, were rushed to a hospital.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced the young girl deceased.

It was unclear if the 50-year-old Fremont man driving the CR-V suffered injuries from the crash. More details surrounding the fatal Interstate 80 DUI crash will be released once the investigation has concluded.

California Highway Patrol officers arrested Ashley Baxter on suspicion of driving under the influence.
