One Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Northwest Avenue
BELLINGHAM, WA (January 16, 2025) – Tuesday evening, one person was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Interstate 5.
Washington State Patrol officers arrived to the scene around 7:00 p.m., near Northwest Avenue on January 7th.
The initial collision occurred when a driver crashed into a median in the northbound lanes of Northwest Avenue. The driver then exited his vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Shortly after, the driver of southbound vehicle struck him. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene.
During cleanup and preliminary duties, troopers blocked all northbound and southbound lanes while they cleared the scene and conducted further investigation.
