53-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident near Turner Warnell Road

ARLINGTON, TX (January 15, 2025) – Early Friday morning, Tonya Clardy was fatally struck in a pedestrian crash on Matlock Road.

Authorities responded to the scene around 6:20 a.m., near Turner Warnell Road on January 3rd.

According to the Arlington Police Department, Clardy was driving a 2021 BMW sedan northbound on Matlock Road.

Clardy then entered the intersection while a southbound 2010 Lexus LS attempted to make a turn. The Lexus then collided with Clardy at the intersection.

After the impact, Clardy got out of her vehicle and crossed the intersection to exchange information with the Lexus driver.

There, a northbound 2014 Nissan Sentra struck Clardy on Matlock Road. The Sentra driver then stopped and contacted authorities.

Paramedics transported 53-year-old Clardy to a nearby hospital where she later passed away.

Meanwhile, the Lexus driver did not sustained any serious injuries. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.

Alcohol or speed were not suspected as factors in the crash, and no charges were filed against the driver. Further investigation is currently underway.
