11-Year-Old Girl Dies in Scooter Accident near Irvington Road

TUCSON, AZ (January 13, 2025) – Friday afternoon, Emily Ramirez was killed in a scooter collision on Camino De Oeste.

Authorities responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m., near Irvington Road on January 3rd.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department determined that the driver of a truck hit the young girl who was riding a scooter alongside another boy in the neighborhood.

Emergency personnel located the girl with critical injuries upon arrival.

Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced 11-year-old Ramirez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the truck driver remained and cooperated with the authorities. Following preliminary duties, police say speed or impairment did not play a role in the crash. Law enforcement has not disclosed any further details about the crash to the public at this time.
