Elderly Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Coronado Street

HAYWARD, CA (January 13, 2025) – Early Monday morning, an 82-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Miami Avenue.

Hayward Police Officers responded to the scene around 6:00 a.m., near Coronado Street on December 23rd.

Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck a male pedestrian and immediately fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Upon arrival, medical personnel transported the severely injured victim to a nearby hospital where he later passed away. Police officers have not yet released his name or place of residency.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
