One Driver Pronounced Dead after Box Truck Vs Big-Rig Crash near Wardlow Road
LONG BEACH, CA (January 9, 2025) – Late Wednesday morning, Jose Deras was killed in a big-rig accident on 605 Freeway.
Authorities responded to the scene shortly after 11:00 a.m., near Wardlow Road.
Based on the initial investigation, a box truck and a big rig collided on the freeway.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, first responders declared one person dead at the scene. Officials later identified the deceased victim as 31-year-old Deras.
Authorities closed the freeway for a brief time as crews cleared the scene. At this time, the details leading up to the fatal dual-truck collision remain unclear.
