63-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near North 2nd Street

EL CAJON, CA (January 8, 2025)  – Sunday evening, one man was killed and another was arrested after a pedestrian crash on East Main Street.

Emergency crews arrived to the scene at the 1300 block of East Main Street near North 2nd Street around 5:14 p.m.

Based on the witness report, the driver of a white 2005 Dodge Ram pickup-truck hit a pedestrian while traveling westbound on E. Main Street. 

Investigators say the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway on foot, outside of a marked crosswalk. Upon impact, the driver continued fleeing westbound without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Meanwhile, first responders arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Officials only identified the deceased pedestrian as a 63-year-old man. 

Following the crash, authorities managed to locate the 64-year-old man driving the pickup-truck. The unidentified driver was eventually arrested for felony hit-and-run. 

El Cajon Officials are asking those who witnessed the East Main Street hit-and-run to contact the El Cajon Police at 619-579-3311. Once available, more details will be provided about the fatal pedestrian crash on East Main Street.
