Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Single-Car Collision near Denise Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 8, 2025) – Saturday afternoon, one man was killed and another was hurt in a solo-vehicle collision on Manor Street.

Police officers responded to the scene around 2:11 p.m., just south of Denise Avenue.

Upon arrival, the officers learned that a southbound Mercedes-Benz sedan veered off the freeway lanes. The Mercedes then rolled over multiple times before landing in a field, west of the roadway.

According to the investigators, the crash ejected the driver and the passenger from the vehicle.

Responding paramedics transported the two adult male patients to nearby hospitals where the driver died from his injuries. Reports said the passenger remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased driver once available.

The investigators suspect excessive speed to be a contributing factor in the crash. Anyone with additional information about the deadly Manor Street solo-vehicle crash is asked to call the  Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
