Man Pronounced Dead after Construction Site Crash near Whipple Avenue

REDWOOD CITY, CA (January 7, 2025) – Early Saturday morning, one man was killed in a Caltrans truck crash on Highway 101. 

Authorities responded to the scene on the northbound lanes of the freeway just south of Whipple Avenue around 1:45 a.m.

Reports indicate that the driver of a Subaru Crosstrek was heading north on US-101. The vehicle then turned left onto the closed portion of the roadway. 

Subsequently, the Subaru collided with a Caltrans truck, which had an illuminated arrow sign board directing traffic to the right. 

Responding emergency personnel pronounced the Subaru driver dead at the scene. The Caltrans truck driver received minor injuries from the collision. 

Redwood City Officials continue to investigate the fatal Highway 101 truck crash.
