79-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Peoria Avenue
PHOENIX, AZ (January 7, 2025) – Early Thursday afternoon, German Perez Ortiz Jr. was killed in a pedestrian collision on Loop 303.
Authorities responded to the southbound lanes of the freeway near Peoria Avenue around 1:00 p.m., on December 26th.
Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck Ortiz Jr. who was on the freeway at the time. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced 70-year-old Ortiz Jr., of Surprise, deceased.
Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Authorities reopened the southbound lanes by 4:00 p.m.
