2 Dead, 19 Hurt after Plane Crash on West Raymer Avenue [Fullerton, CA]
Two Killed, 19 Injured in Plane Collision near Fullerton Municipal Airport
FULLERTON, CA (January 5, 2025) – Thursday afternoon, two were killed and nineteen were hurt in a plane crash at 2300 West Raymer Avenue.
First responders arrived to the scene just east of Fullerton Municipal Airport, where thick black smoke was seen coming out of a hole in the roof of the warehouse, part of a cluster of businesses in the area.
The impact of the crash killed both occupants inside the plane, and injured 19 individuals who were inside the building at the time. Although, authorities have not yet released their identities.
Medics arrived and transported 11 of the injured victims to a local hospital for further treatment. Meanwhile, crews treated the remaining 8 at the scene.
Authorities identified the aircraft as a home-built Van’s Aircraft RV-10, designed to seat 4 people. According to police, the pilot seemed to be attempting to return to the airport shortly after takeoff.
It remains unclear how many individuals were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.
Investigators say the plane went down less than two minutes after departing Fullerton Municipal Airport in Orange County. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot informed air traffic control of an intention to return for an emergency landing. However, the specific problem with the aircraft was not disclosed.
Information regarding the conditions of those hospitalized was not immediately available.
