32-Year-Old Calexico Man Pronounced Dead after Solo-Truck Accident near Laval Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 2, 2025) – Early Sunday morning, Raul Cibrian Navarro was killed in a semi-truck accident on Interstate 5.

Dispatchers received calls around 4:57 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the freeway in the California Aqueduct near Laval Road. 

Based on the CHP Fort Tejon report, the driver of a big-rig went off the roadway and crashed into the aqueduct, completely submerging the truck.

At around 2:46 p.m., first responders extricated the driver from the cabin in the semi-truck. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Later, the Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased driver as 32-year-old Raul Cibrian Navarro of Calexico. 

At this time, an autopsy is being conducted to determine Navarro‘s manner of death. Once available, further details will be provided.
