Victorville Woman Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Quinnault Road

APPLE VALLEY, CA (December 30, 2024) – Monday evening, a DUI collision on Highway 18 claimed the life of Samantha Haun.

Authorities responded to the scene around 8:00 p.m., just east of Quinnault Road.

Investigators say the driver of a 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander was heading west in the eastbound lanes. Consequently, the Highlander collided head-on with an oncoming 2016 Honda Civic.

First responders declared the Civic driver dead at the scene. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department later identified the victim as 30-year-old Samantha Haun, also known as Alex Robles.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Mitsubishi driver, 45-year-old Vicente Zuniga-Medina, of Hesperia to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Zuniga-Medina was eventually arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Authorities are asking those who witnessed the DUI crash to call the Apple Valley Police Department at (760) 240-7400.
