39-Year-Old Man Injured in Pedestrian Collision near Mile Post 7
KITTITAS COUNTY, WA (December 23, 2024) – Sunday, Nirmal Singh was hurt and Josefina Martinez-Chavez was involved in a crash on Interstate 82.
The incident happened on the eastbound shoulder of Interstate 82 near milepost 7 at approximately 6:15 p.m., on December 15th.
Washington State Patrol officers determined that 37-year-old Martinez-Chavez was trying to avoid a collision and went onto the shoulder. There, the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking in the area.
Responding paramedics transported 39-year-old Nirmal Singh to Kittitas Valley Healthcare for further treatment.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup operations.
Following preliminary duties, investigators determined that speed played a role in the collision. However, impairment was ruled out as a potential factor.
