Daniel Jacobs Killed in Red-Light Collision on Interstate 17 [Phoenix, AZ]
30-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Red-Light Accident near Indian School Road
PHOENIX, AZ (December 23, 2024) – Late Friday night, a red-light collision on Interstate 17 fatally injured Daniel Jacobs.
First responders arrived to the scene around 10:30 p.m., near Indian School Road on December 13th.
Reports indicate that Jacobs was driving an Infiniti G37 at high rates of speed while heading east on Indian School Road. Jacobs then ran a red-light at the intersection, and struck a Toyota Tacoma.
The impact sent Jacobs’ vehicle through a fence, before plunging 30 feet onto the southbound lanes of Interstate 17.
Shortly after, A GMC Sierra traveling on I-17 then struck Jacobs’ fallen car.
Emergency responders rushed 30-year-old Jacobs to a local hospital, where he died the next day.
Authorities report that the other vehicle involved in the initial collision overturned, requiring the driver to be extricated from his truck. The driver, a 29-year-old man whose identity has not yet been disclosed, remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
