Female Driver Pronounced Dead after Double-Vehicle Collision near Ben Hur Road

MARIPOSA, CA (December 23, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, Alicia Osteen died and several others were hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 49.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., near Ben Hur Road and the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. 

Investigators say the driver of a northbound Honda crossed the solid double-yellow lines and drifted into oncoming lanes. 

Consequently, the Honda driver collided with an oncoming Jeep traveling in the southbound lanes of the highway. 

First responders declared the Honda driver, identified as Alicia Osteen, dead at the scene.

Medics also treated several other passengers at the scene and rushed multiple others to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. 

At this time, Mariposa Officials are working to determine whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
