Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run DUI Collision on Union Avenue [Bakersfield, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Crash near Brundage Lane
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 19, 2024) – Monday evening, one pedestrian was fatally struck in a hit-and-run DUI collision on Union Avenue.
Dispatchers received calls around 9:18 p.m., near Brundage Lane.
Based on the initial investigation, the driver of a white Toyota sedan hit a person crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk.
Shortly after, the pedestrian was also struck by a white Ram pickup-truck going in the same direction.
Emergency responders declared the unidentified pedestrian deceased at the scene.
Following the collision, police managed to arrest the Toyota driver in their residence in southeast Bakersfield. Authorities charged the driver with felony DUI and hit-and-run.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Ram initially fled the scene but returned shortly after to cooperate with the investigators.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim once available.
