31-Year-Old Mother and Toddler Pronounced Dead after Rear-End Accident near Sparrow Lane

BERTRAM, TX (December 18, 2024) – Tuesday, Patricia Torres-Jimenez and her daughter were killed in a rear-end collision on State Highway 29.

Authorities responded to the scene around 8:20 p.m., at the 1400 block of West State Highway 29 near Sparrow Lane on December 3rd.

Per reports, the driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended a Toyota, pushing the Toyota into oncoming traffic where it hit a nearby semi-truck.

Following preliminary duties, investigators say the Toyota was attempting to turn into a laundromat parking lot at the time.

The Toyota then traveled back into the westbound lanes where it was hit by a BMW before coming to rest on the shoulder.

Due to the impact of the crash, a young girl was ejected from the Toyota onto the road. First responders also located the driver, Torres-Jimenez, trapped inside the Toyota.

Medics later pronounced 31-year-old Torres-Jimenez and her 2-year-old daughter dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Dodge driver was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges were filed as of this time, and the crash remains under investigation.
