57-Year-Old Construction Worker Dies in Collision near Heliotrope Avenue

BELL, CA (December 18, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Jose Arias Barrientos was killed in a work-related incident on Gage Avenue.

Bell Police Officers responded to the scene around 3:00 a.m., near Heliotrope Avenue on December 6th.

Investigators say 57-year-old Barrientos was welding metal along the area when he was hit by a truck driven by his co-worker. Due to the impact of the crash, Barrientos was declared dead at the scene.

Police then questioned his co-worker, and later released him.

Following preliminary duties, troopers ruled the fatality as an accident. Also, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health responded to coordinate with the investigation.

Officials have not provided any additional information about the crash to the public, but they will offer more details once available.
