Nasser Chidiac Killed in Wrong-Way Collision on Loop 202 [Mesa, AZ]
50-Year-Old Math Teacher Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Accident near Power Road
MESA, AZ (December 16, 2024) – Late Saturday evening, Nasser Chidiac was killed in a wrong-way collision on Loop 202.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to the scene around 11:00 p.m., near Power Road on December 7th.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a vehicle was heading west in the eastbound lanes and slammed head-on into an oncoming vehicle, occupied by Chidiac and a passenger.
Medics arrived and pronounced 50-year-old Chidiac, of Mesa dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took Chidiac’s passenger and the wrong-way driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Following preliminary duties, troopers stated that Chidiac was a math teacher at Tempe High School.
In addition, crews described the wrong-way driver as a 23-year-old man from San Tan Valley. Officers say he suffered life-threatening injuries.
At this time, further investigation remains underway.
