57-Year-Old Semi-Truck Driver Pronounced Dead after Head-On Accident near Exit 42

KELSO, WA (December 10, 2024) – Late Friday evening, Brian Campbell was fatally injured in a semi-truck collision on Interstate 5.

Washington State Patrol officers responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m., near southbound off-ramp to Exit 42 on November 21st.

Investigators say Daren Bowlby was driving a pickup-truck the wrong-way and collided head-on with a semi-truck driven by Campbell.

Upon arrival, first responders located the semi-truck on its side with the driver trapped inside. Emergency crews immediately extricated Campbell before transferring him to a nearby trauma hospital.

On Saturday, 57-year-old Campbell, of Salem succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Meanwhile, 58-year-old Bowlby, of Castle Rock, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
