36-Year-Old Del Rey Man Pronounced Dead after Pickup-Truck vs Semi-Truck Collision near McCall Avenue

FRESNO, CA (December 9, 2024) – Tuesday morning, Armando Jimenez Cadena was killed in a big-rig crash on Parlier Avenue.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m., near McCall Avenue.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a westbound Chevrolet pickup-truck ran through a stop sign and collided with a northbound semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer.

The impact ejected the pickup-truck driver from the vehicle onto the road. Meanwhile, the vehicle caught fire and became engulfed in flames.

Responding EMTs pronounced the pickup-truck driver dead at the scene. Fresno CHP later identified the deceased driver as 36-year-old Cadena, of Del Rey.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed his female passenger to a nearby hospital in critical condition. 

In addition, the semi-truck driver remained uninjured in the crash. Authorities do not suspect intoxication to be a factor in the collision. 

The family of Cadena started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses.
