Unidentified Woman Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Collision near Olivera Road

CONCORD, CA (December 5, 2024) – Sunday evening, one female cyclist was killed in a bicycle accident on State Highway 242.

California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 9:00 p.m., on the southbound lanes just north of Olivera Road on November 24th.

Investigators say the driver of a white GMC Yukon SUV struck a bicyclist who was riding in the southbound lanes. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the female cyclist dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased woman.

Meanwhile, the GMC driver remained and cooperated with troopers. Police say that alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Further investigation is currently ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at 925-646-4980.
