Robert Menchaca Dies in Solo-Car Collision on Mulberry Avenue [El Paso, TX]
17-Year-Old Driver Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Crash near Warriors Drive
EL PASO, TX (December 2, 2024) – Early Friday morning, Robert Menchaca was killed in a solo-car collision on Mulberry Avenue.
El Paso Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Mulberry Avenue near Warriors Drive just before 12:20 a.m., on November 15th.
Reports indicate that Menchaca was driving a Jeep Wrangler west and suddenly veered into the eastbound lanes.
The wrong-way Jeep then collided with a nearby utility pole. Paramedics arrived and transported 17-year-old Menchaca to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
In addition, a female passenger from inside the Jeep fled the scene and remains at large.
Police say that failure to maintain a lane of travel was the main factor of the crash and anyone with information is encouraged to call the troopers at (915) 832-4400 (non-emergency) or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-8477.
