Katherine and Kacey Hutson Dead, Omar Jose Alvarado Arrested after DUI Collision on Interstate 10 [Houston, TX]
46-Year-Old Deputy and 7-Year-Old Daughter Killed in DUI Accident near Washington Avenue
HOUSTON, TX (December 2, 2024) – Early Friday morning, Katherine Hutson and Kacey Hutson were killed in a DUI collision on Interstate 10.
The Houston Police Department responded to the scene just after 3:00 a.m., near Washington Avenue on November 22nd.
Per reports, Omar Jose Alvarado was driving a Mazda and crashed into a utility truck and another vehicle, driven by Katherine. Upon impact, the vehicles became engulfed in flames.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 46-year-old Katherine and her 7-year-old daughter, Kacey dead at the scene.
In addition, paramedics transported a worker standing beside the utility truck and a passenger inside Alvarado’s vehicle to a local hospital. Crews say Alvarado remained uninjured.
Following preliminary duties, troopers determined that 23-year-old Alvarado was intoxicated. As a result, officers took him into the Harris County Jail with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
Responding crews blocked the highway for several hours, and reopened all lanes around 11:00 a.m.
Moreover, troopers added that Katherine was a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable and worked for 18 years and will be deeply missed by her community.
At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
