45-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Car Collision near Mile Marker 284

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (November 20, 2024) – Friday afternoon, Steven Michael Basden was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Loop 250.

First responders arrived to the scene around 2:00 p.m., near mile marker 284 on November 1st.

Reports indicate Troy Alan Gilbert was driving a 2024 Ford F-350 when the tire came off, and traveled into the eastbound lanes where hit the windshield a 2018 Ford F-150, driven by Basen.

As a result, Basen lost control and struck a cable barrier in the median.

Paramedics arrived shortly after and took 45-year-old Basden to Midland Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on November 2nd.

It is still unclear, whether or not 45-year-old Gilbert suffered injuries in the crash. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
