One Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Leon Avenue

MODESTO, CA (November 20, 2024) – Sunday morning, Miguel Angel Vazquez was struck and killed in a pedestrian collision on Paradise Road.

First responders arrived to the scene around 2:36 a.m., near Leon Avenue. 

Police officers say the driver of a black sedan struck a man who was attempting to cross Leon Avenue in a north direction, causing life-threatening injuries.

Upon impact, the male driver continued traveling west on Paradise Road.

Emergency medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased pedestrian as Miguel Angel Vazquez. 

At this time, the Modesto Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the collision. 
Those who were present in the fatal Paradise Road hit-and-run are encouraged to contact officers as soon as possible.
