Man Pronounced Dead after Fatal Pedestrian Accident near San Mateo Boulevard

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (November 20, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, one victim was killed in a pedestrian crash on Montgomery Boulevard.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:00 a.m., near San Mateo Boulevard on October 15th.

Upon arrival, troopers found a man lying on the westbound lanes of the roadway with critical injuries.

Witnesses told police officers that a white Lincoln sedan struck the man before veering into a nearby Lovelace parking lot.

Emergency medics arrived and pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

During preliminary duties, authorities interviewed the involved driver who stated that he though he struck debris or a cardboard box. He then parked and waited for police officers to arrive.

Further investigation remains ongoing, and alcohol was ruled out as a potential factor in the crash. Once available, more details will be provided.
