Man Dead, Stephanie Zamora Hospitalized after DUI Collision on State Route 76 [Oceanside, CA]
Male Driver Fatally Injured in Wrong-Way Crash near Melrose Drive
OCEANSIDE, CA (November 18, 2024) – Saturday night, one man was killed and Stephanie Zamora was hurt in a DUI collision on State Route 76.
Police officers responded to the scene around 9:26 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway just west of Melrose Drive.
Investigators say the driver of a tan Buick Century was traveling the wrong way and collided with a white Honda Clarity.
First responders declared the person driving the Buick dead at the scene. Officials only described the deceased driver as a man in his 30s.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Honda driver, 20-year-old Zamora, of Oceanside to Palomar Hospital in Escondido. Zamora sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the collision, according to medical reports.
Emergency personnel shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, authorities suspect intoxication to be a factor in the incident.
