One Fatally Struck in Wrong-Way Crash near Avalon Boulevard
CARSON, CA (November 19, 2024) – Monday evening, one person was killed and another was hurt in a five-car accident on 405 Freeway.
California Highway Patrol officers arrived to the southbound lanes of the freeway near Avalon Boulevard around 9:53 p.m.
Based on the initial investigation, a wrong-way driver collided with several other vehicles. However, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
Responding units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department declared one person dead at the scene. Another person was transported to a hospital where they remained in critical condition.
In the end, Caltrans closed all the lanes of 405 Freeway, diverting the traffic on Avalon Boulevard. Carson Officials will provide more information regarding the fatal five-vehicle crash once the investigation has concluded.
