Unidentified Female Driver Fatally Injured in Head-On Accident near Howsley Road

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (November 13, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, one woman was killed and a man was hurt in a wrong-way collision on Highway 99.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:34 a.m., just south of Howsley Road.

California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a Chrysler Pacifica veered into the northbound lanes while traveling south on the highway. As a result, the Pacifica collided head-on with an oncoming GMC.

Responding medical personnel declared the female driver of the Chrysler dead at the scene, due to the extent of injuries sustained. Police only described the victim as a 25-year-old woman from Marysville.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the 46-year-old man driving the GMC to a nearby hospital for further treatment of significant injuries.

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal wrong-way collision on Highway 99.
