49-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed in Pedestrian Collision near South Rio Vista Street
ANAHEIM, CA (November 12, 2024) – Tuesday, Jessica Ferrino died and Raymundo Rangel was arrested after a DUI crash on East Wagner Avenue.
Police officers responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m., near South Rio Vista Street.
Investigators say a driver lost control of his silver Mercedes-Benz after making a 90-degree turn.
The car then veered off the roadway and drove through a fence before hitting a woman and landing on the Santa Ana River.
Responding personnel declared the female pedestrian deceased. On Wednesday, authorities identified the deceased female pedestrian as 49-year-old Ferrino.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the vehicle to a hospital before arresting him upon his released. Crews later identified him as 33-year-old Raymundo Rangel. Police arrested Rangel for suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
Crews also booked Rangel’s passenger for charges of public intoxication.
Ferrino worked as an instructional aide at a nearby Rio Vista Elementary School. She will be deeply missed by her community.
