60-Year-Old Man and 62-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Big-Rig Crash near Zuzax
BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM (November 11, 2024) – Saturday, David and Mary Harper were killed in a fiery semi-truck collision on Interstate 40.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene near the Zuzax exit on November 2nd.
For reasons under investigation, the driver of a passenger vehicle struck a semi-truck in the area, causing it to catch fire.
First responders located the vehicle trapped underneath the semi-truck upon arrival. Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced the driver, 60-year-old David and his passenger, 62-year-old Mary dead at the scene.
Emergency crews say the vehicle and the trailer of the semi-truck were both totaled. By 11:00 p.m., the troopers were able to extinguish the fire.
An active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
