1-Year-Old Child Killed in Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision near Southeast 256th Street

MAPLE VALLEY, WA (November 11, 2024) – Monday, a toddler died and Alexis Andaluz Lozano was arrested after a car crash on State Route 18.

Authorities responded to the scene just before 3:00 p.m., on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Southeast 256th Street on October 21st.

The Washington State Patrol says Lozano was driving a Cadillac ATS 2014 west at a high rate of speed.

Lozano eventually lost control and crossed into the oncoming lanes where he collided with an eastbound 2005 Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 27-year-old woman with a 21-month-old passenger.

Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the toddler passenger dead at the scene.

In addition, paramedics transported Lozano and the woman to Harborview Medical Center where the woman had to undergo surgery.

Following preliminary duties, crews took Alexis Andaluz Lozano to Maleng Regional Justice Center where he faced charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. The state has requested his bail to be set at $150,000.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
