55-Year-Old Woman Killed, 1 Hurt in Rear-End Collision near Scottsdale Road

TEMPE, AZ (November 8, 2024) – Sunday morning, Rachel Marie Moss died and another person was hurt in a chain-reaction collision on Loop 202.

First responders arrived to the westbound lanes of the freeway around 3:00 a.m., near Scottsdale Road on November 3rd.

Reports indicate that the driver of a white car rear-ended a gray Honda SUV, leaving it blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

Shortly after, the driver of a gray Audi approached and crashed into the disabled SUV, escalating the situation.

Amidst the chaos, a gray Ford passenger vehicle then struck both the Audi and the Honda, also hitting two people who had stepped out of their vehicles because of the previous collisions.

The final crash killed one person and left another critically injured. Law enforcement later identified the deceased victim as 55-year-old Moss, from Chandler.

At this time, the Arizona Department of Public Safety has not released any additional information.
