Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on Virgil Avenue [Los Angeles, CA]
70-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near West 3rd Street in Koreatown
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 7, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a woman was killed and a man was hurt in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Virgil Avenue.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 5:55 a.m., near West 3rd Street in Koreatown.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, an 83-year-old man driving eastbound on 3rd Street struck a 70-year-old woman after turning left onto Virgil. Upon impact, the man exited his vehicle to provide assistance to the woman.
Shortly after, a second vehicle struck the male driver and the female pedestrian before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders transported the woman and the man to a hospital where the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries. The male driver remained hospitalized in a critical condition.
At this time, the LAPD has not released additional information about the suspect or the suspect’s vehicle.
The West Traffic Division is offering a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone who can lead the authorities to the suspect’s arrest. LAPD West Traffic detectives at 213-473-0234.
