34-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Reckless Car Accident near Farm-to-Market Road 828

DAWSON COUNTY, TX (November 7, 2024) – Wednesday, Matilde Herrera-Gutierrez was killed and Matthew Christy was hurt in a stop-sign crash.

Authorities responded to State Highway 137 and Farm-to-Market Road 828 around 6:45 a.m., on September 18th.

Responding troopers determined that Herrera-Gutierrez was driving a Ford F-350 east on FM 828 when he approached a stop sign and failed to yield. As a result, the Ford struck a Kenworth trailer truck, driven by 45-year-old Christy.

The impact caused severe injuries to both drivers. Medical personnel later pronounced 34-year-old Herrera-Gutierrez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported 45-year-old Christy to UMC Hospital for further treatment.

No other information was added by the troopers, and the crash remains under active investigation.
