50-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after DUI Accident near Riverside Avenue

RIALTO, CA (November 7, 2024) – Sunday night, David Guerrero died and Laura Barajas was arrested after a DUI collision on Etiwanda Avenue.

First responders arrived to the scene shortly before 6:26 p.m., near Riverside Avenue.

Investigators say the driver of a northbound green Dodge Caravan attempted to make a left turn onto Etiwanda. 

However, the Dodge driver failed to yield and collided with a black Audi A4, sending the Dodge onto the northeast corner of the sidewalk where it hit a pedestrian. 

Responding emergency personnel transported the pedestrian to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office later identified the deceased pedestrian as 50-year-old Guerrero, of Rialto. 

Following the crash, police booked the 32-year-old Caravan driver, Laura Barajas, into jail after being medically cleared. Reports said that Barajas was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Paramedics also transported the 19-year-old driver of the Audi and his 2-year-old son to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. 

Rialto Officials reopened the intersection at around 12:30 a.m.
