Omar Arriaga Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 [Monterey County, CA]
49-Year-Old Salinas Man Pronounced Dead after Five-Vehicle Collision near Gloria Road
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (November 4, 2024) – Late Saturday morning, a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of Omar Arriaga.
Police officers responded to the scene around 11:45 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway just south of Gloria Road.
California Highway Patrol officers say the driver of a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 that was hauling a trailer rear-ended a Chevrolet Colorado.
The impact of the crash caused the driver to lose control before it rolled over and hit three other cars.
Emergency responders declared the Colorado driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported their male passenger to Natividad Medical Center for further treatment.
Later, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased driver as 49-year-old Omar Arriaga of Salinas.
In addition, the 16-year-old male driver of the 2021 Chevrolet 2500 was licensed, based on the police report.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. The CHP is asking those with additional information to contact the Monterey Area CHP at (831) 770-8000.
