Two Simi Valley Officers Hospitalized following DUI Collision near 118 Freeway
SIMI VALLEY, CA (November 4, 2024) – Police arrested Luis Fernando Piceno-Venegas Thursday evening, after a DUI crash on Tapo Canyon Road.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m., near the 118 Freeway off-ramp.
Officers say the driver of a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended two police vehicles that were heading south. The impact of the crash left all three vehicles with significant damage.
Paramedics arrived and transported the two injured officers to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Although, authorities have not yet released their identities.
Meanwhile, the speeding driver – identified as 28-year-old Luis Fernando Piceno-Venegas – was arrested for felony DUI.
Piceno-Venegas remained in custody in county jail on Friday and is currently being held on a $60,000 bail. Once available, more details will be provided.
