Female Driver Pronounced Dead after Truck Accident near Thomas Springs Road
AUSTIN, TX (October 31, 2024) – Early Friday morning, Tracy Daspit was killed in a truck collision on State Highway 71.
Police officers responded to the scene around 7:10 a.m., near Thomas Springs Road on October 18th.
Reports indicate that Daspit drove through a red-light at the intersection and collided with an 18-wheeler truck tractor that was heading south on the freeway.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services declared Daspit, of Austin dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck remained on site and cooperated with authorities. Emergency crews closed off the intersection for a brief time while clearing the scene.
No other information was added by the investigators, and the crash remains under active investigation.
