53-Year-Old Driver Detained after Fatal Bicycle vs Car Collision near Main Avenue 

SACRAMENTO, CA (October 17, 2024) – Late Saturday night, Vicente Perez was arrested after a fatal DUI bicycle crash on Marysville Boulevard.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., near Main Avenue. First responders arrived to the scene shortly after.

Investigators say the driver of a vehicle struck a cyclist in the area and fled the scene without rendering aid. Upon arrival, officers learned that fire personnel already declared the bicyclist dead at the scene. 

Emergency crews shut down the surrounding area for a brief time during clearing operations. During preliminary duties, the Sacramento Police Department officers managed to track the runaway driver nearby. 

Eventually, authorities arrested 53-year-old Vicente Perez of West Sacramento for suspected DUI and several other charges. 

The identity of the deceased bicyclist remains undisclosed to the public. Sacramento Officials are asking those who witnessed the fatal DUI crash to contact the SPD at (916) 808-5471.
