Risten Lee Robinson Killed in DUI Crash on Interstate 10 [Tucson, AZ]
19-Year-Old Passenger Pronounced Dead after High-Speed Collision near Frontage Road and West Silverlake Road
TUCSON, AZ (October 10, 2024) – Early Saturday morning, Risten Lee Robinson was pronounced dead after a DUI crash on Interstate 10.
The Tucson Police Department responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m., near Frontage and West Silverlake Road on September 28th.
Reports indicate that the driver of a Kia Niro was heading west on Silverlake Road, and attempted to make a turn onto Frontage Road. Meanwhile, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling at high rates of speed and rear-ended the Kia.
Upon impact, the Chevy spun out and overturned, ejected all five passengers onto the road. Medics arrived and transported the driver and all five passengers to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Due to the extent of his condition, medics later pronounced 19-year-old Robinson dead at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia sustained minor wounds and did not require hospitalization.
Investigators say both drivers were impaired by alcohol or drugs at that time. However, no charges have been cited on either driver.
Troopers stated that excessive speed and impaired driving by the Chevy driver caused the crash. Further investigation is currently ongoing.
